Students and lovers of tea culture will notice that the long pour is a feature of traditional tea cultures in numerous far-flung places. Pulled tea in India, long-spout pouring in China, or this high pour in Mali — in each case the tea is aerated and vitalized by this technique, similar to how red wine is aerated to deepen flavor. This is something which didn’t make its way into British tea culture, maybe because it’s too vigorous and non-dainty for the Victorian high tea setting. For all I know Starbucks is onto this and will soon come out with some abomination like “Malinese Zen Soy Pulled Chai Mint Latte” where aeration is performed by machine.

Indie band the Shout Out Louds have released their latest single in a very limited edition 7-inch record that plays on ice. ‘Blue Ice’ is the first piece of music the group has released for the past three years and is the first single off the band’s upcoming, as-yet-untitled, full-length album. The unique frosty vinyl was created in collaboration with ad agency TBWA Stockholm, and through experimentation, was created using distilled water to avoid bubbles in the tracks. The records can be spun on a regular turntable and rapidly diminish in quality once the melting process begins, so a specialized silicone cast allowed for quick removal out of the freezer and instant tunes and be heard.

The song is quite nice too.

“Pitch for a CD collection of contemporary music in various genres. Using the client’s established graphic themes for each style, and making something less harmful to the environment by using recycled paper stocks, cloth and avoiding the use of plastic as much possible. Completed while at RMAC.”

Having worked for Giovanni Bianco / Studio 65 in New York, RMAC in Lisbon, C&G Partners in New York city, and more recently with -nada- design studio in Lisbon again, I’m currently based in Lisbon, Portugal and available for freelance projects and other interesting opportunities.

“Each of the smaller boxes contains 20 activities with good, specific and descriptive information about which areas are stimulated in the activity. In addition to the field that the card mainly represents, the cards also describes other disciplines that are stimulated while doing the activity. The logo is made out of the company name, set with abstract letters made of circles and straight lines. The logo shows an unbroken “line” that symbolizes lifelong learning, an image of community and caring.

The artwork on the different boxes is a typographic play with opportunities for individual interpretation of the forms, made out of shapes from the logo divided into new forms, to enhance the expression and identity. The colors on the box represents the different disciplines that you will find on the boxes and cards. The box with black base color contains the instruction booklet.”
